IGS Foundation Recognition

The IGS Foundation would like to recognize our donors.  The Foundation accepts contributions from all sources.  Of particular note and import are our initial Founding Donors most of whom come from within the geosynthetics industry.  The IGS and the Foundation appreciate the contributions of these individuals and companies and will use the resources donated to us with good stewardship and full effect.

IGS-Foundation Logo (Updated)

The Foundation has a structured recognition program with donor levels being the Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum categories and levels.  Each contribution is valued and helps to advance the geosynthetics industry.

Our current donor slate is listed below and we thank the contributors for their support.  If you are considering making a donation, please take a moment to review our contribution solicitation page and program.

Characteristics of Recognitions per Honor Category

The IGS Foundation will compile and maintain the IGS Foundation “Current Donor Honor List,” which will identify the donors to be recognized on the publications and events on any given calendar year. The plan is to categorize the different donors within one of the following honor categories listed below. The periodicity and characteristics of the recognitions to be made for each Honor Category are:

IGS Hall of Fame

  • $100,000+ donation
  • Periodicity of donations: Impromptu (multiple donations encouraged)
  • Types of recognition: All (listed as recognitions 1 through 7 in the previous section)
  • Timing of Recognition: Permanent

Platinum

  • $25,000+ donation
  • Periodicity of donations: Impromptu (multiple donations encouraged and count towards lifetime commitment and possible IGS Hall of Fame status)
  • Type of recognition: 1 through 6
  • Timing of Recognition: Permanent

Gold

  • $10,000+ donation
  • Periodicity of donations: Impromptu (multiple donations encouraged and count towards possible Platinum status)
  • Type of recognition: 1 through 5
  • Timing of Recognition: Year of donation. For Recognitions 4 and 5: One cycle of Regional and
  • International IGS Conferences

Silver

  • $5,000+ donation
  • Periodicity of donations: Impromptu (multiple donations encouraged and count towards possible Gold status)
  • Type of recognition: 1 through 4
  • Timing of Recognition: Year of donation. For Recognition 4: One cycle of Regional and
  • International IGS Conferences

Bronze

  • $1,000+ donation
  • Periodicity of donations: Expected to be yearly (multiple donations count towards possible Silver status)
  • Type of recognition: 1, 2, and 3
  • Timing of Recognition: Year of donation

Benefits of donating

Periodicity of Donations:

Donations are welcomed at any time and in any amount, but it is expected to have two groups of donations based on their periodicity, as follows:

  • Impromptu (one-time)
  • Yearly (Donors make an initial donation, but pledge annual support/giving)

Types and Timing of Recognition:

Recognition of the donors will be made by the IGS Foundation and the IGS considering different venues and timing. The different types of recognition, according to the venue of the recognition is proposed as follows:

  1. List in the IGS Foundation Website
  2. Yearly IGS Foundation Report:
    1. Written report
    2. Video Posting
  3. List of donors:
    1. IGS News publication
    2. IGS website listing in addition to the IGS Foundation listing
  4. Recognition in IGS Conferences – Tier 2 Regional conferences:
    1. Corporate Receptions
    2. Banner and/or digital recognition placement(s)
  5. Recognition in IGS Conferences – Tier 1 Regional conferences and the International Conference on Geosynthetics:
    1. Opening Ceremonies recognition
    2. General Assembly recognition
  6. Focused article within both the IGS News and IGS website
  7. Breaking News Article and postings

The timing of the recognition of different donors will follow receipt of the donation and will include both recognition during the year of the donation and repeated recognition actions for repeat /multiple donors.

Founding Donors:

Existing/current donors and all donors whose contributions are received by December 31, 2021 will be designated as “Founding” donors of the respective level. i.e. an existing $5,000 donor is a “Founding Silver donor”, a donation of $5,000 received on January 1, 2022 would instead be a “Silver Donor”.

All of us together are stronger than individually.

Give something back to the industry that has supported you.

IGSThe IGS is at the forefront of positive change for our industry – Education, Sustainability, technical development, global industry information, best practices and industry resources.  This performance can be enhanced and expanded with additional financial support

Programs underway that need financial support include:

  • The Educate the Educators program: The goal of this program is to have geosynthetics included in every undergraduate civil engineering curriculum – to date there have been 16 events involving 527 professors/instructors from 287 institutions with a surveyed 65% success rate at introducing geosynthetic content within one year.   Within the covid-19 pandemic, we are moving to present the program in a digital format, maintaining the momentum until travel can resume.
  • The IGS Sustainability Committee is working to document, organize and publicize the multiple and significant benefits of geosynthetics in building a sustainable infrastructure.  Geosynthetics use less overall energy, reduce CO2 emissions, reduce maintenance needs, improve economic benefits and add durability and lifespan to infrastructure and construction.   These benefits are becoming rapidly and increasingly important as our global society conserves our resources and develops a circular economy.
  • The IGS has several active student and young member programs.  The continued expansion and success of our industry are dependent on attracting, developing and including younger scientists and engineers into the geosynthetic field.
  • Many other programs exist that can be executed more rapidly and expanded with additional resources.

To make a contribution (>USD $1,000) , please contact a Foundation Board of Trustees’ member, or use the contact form linked here, or email to Admin@TheIGSFoundation.com If you are unable to make a larger contribution, ( for smaller donation amounts) we would welcome you to participate in the IGS Benefactors program linked here:
